At the Council meeting on Wednesday 22nd July, it was revealed that the number of vehicles using the Council's station car parks had reduced so much following the increase in daily charges from £3.50 to £5.00 that the actual amount of income from Pay and Display machines reduced from £1,246,012 in 2007/8 to £1,202,199 in 2008/9. This is a reduction of £43,813 rather than the increase of £258,000 the Conservative administration promised.
